StudioUs offers year-round, weekly fine art classes for students age 4 and up. Based on classical art training methods, we shape each level of our curriculum to the unique needs of each age group we serve.
Students progress through projects that emphasize core art concepts including shape, balance, perspective, color mixing, shading, and tone, while advancing from basic line drawings and dry media to photorealistic paintings in watercolor and acrylic paint.
Our drawing projects teach core concepts of shape, angle, balance, and perspective. Students use dry media to finish their projects while getting an introduction to color matching, shading, and blending.
After mastering drawing, students progress to projects focused on charcoal and chalk pastels. These media help students learn about applying color to achieve different textures, densities, and tones.
Charcoal and Chalk Pastel
Students begin painting with watercolors. This medium emphasizes basic painting principles like color mixing and transparency while also introducing students to working with brushes instead of pencils or other dry media.
As students progress to working with Acrylic paints, the focus shifts toward building layers of color while incorporating all of the earlier lessons in tone, shade, shape and color.
